The Honor Roll School
The students at The Honor Roll School chose random objects out of a bag, and they were challenged to write a creative story about those objects.
I was driving off to go fishing when a black cat crossed the road in front of me. When I got to my favorite spot, I unloaded my big green pontoon boat to find that it was popped. I looked around for the item that had popped the tough canvas. When I brushed my hand over my bag, I felt the sharp wire on the necklace left by my friend the other day. That meant I had to push through the six feet of winding willows to fish from the bank. I fished for two hours and with no luck, I decided to go home. When I was about halfway to my car, a bull moose the size of a van stepped in front of me. As soon as he saw me, I knew I was in trouble. I immediately took off running as fast as I could with the moose right on my tail. I saw a large pine tree and climbed up as fast as I could. Once I was safe, I called my family to come get me, but I spent the night in the tree.

The traveler sailed the ocean blue. The satin-like waves rippled across the sea and splashed gently against the hull of the boat, gently rocking it from side to side. He was on a mission, a mission to find a hidden land where moose and elk roam, where the natives trade necklaces and spices in exchange for knowledge of other lands. I, a raggedy tom cat, a stowaway in search of mice, lie here in the shadow of the cargo, lying amongst potato sacks, gazing out at the gleaming water, reflecting the suns rays, dreaming of a better life in a world far away.

Flash! On a wonderful day on Meowii, I dove into the beautiful blue ocean. I was on summer vacation. My name is Catrina. I am a cat in 6th going into 7th grade. I go to Mouse Academy in Texas. Anyways, I am on vacation with my cat friend and our parents. Today is the first day we came here. I waited for this day the whole school year. Living in Meowii is like living on vacation 24/7. Today we are going on a boat ride with Captain Antlers. He is a moose. As soon as we walked onto the boat, the captain gave us all necklaces. We had dinner on the ship and saw all types of animals in the ocean as we rode into the sunset.

One day something very strange happened. I woke up to a moose in my bed, and it was wearing a necklace. I scurried out of bed. The moose moaned. I asked, "What happened here? "Then the moose started to speak. "What are you looking at?" he asked. He walked out of the room. He dropped his necklace. I gently walked down stairs. Then, a cat was wearing the necklace. It also dropped the necklace. I walked outside. There was a frog wearing the necklace. The frog slipped off, left the yard, and dropped the necklace. I ran to the dock where the boats are. I screamed when I saw a party filled with animals. Most of them were on a boat with necklaces. I fainted. I woke up, and I saw my dog. It was all a dream. The only strange thing was that my dog was wearing a necklace. The end.

"Come on crazy kitty!" I yelled at my cat, Simba. "REOWW!" Simba screeched, rubbing against my leg furiously. I sighed and fingered my flower necklace. "Simal!" my mom shouted, showing up at the door to my room. "What's taking so long?" I was about to go to a Hawaiian themed party. Simba, on the other hand, didn't want me to leave. He gazed lovingly up at me with his amber eyes. He wanted me to stay. I melted at the sight of him. Forcing my eyes, I stared at my mother who still stood there with her arms crossed. "You don't want to be late, I heard there is going to be a boat ride." My ears perked up. I loved water! I snuck a glance at Simba who had fallen asleep on my shoe. Sighing, I cradled him in my arms. I guess I could just take him with me...

The boat thrashed about wildly amongst the dark stormy waves, and my memories of yesterday resurfaced. I am a medium sized (okay, chubby) tabby cat, who ended up on a pirate ship through circumstances I'd rather not tell. Anyway, my mission is to stop these dastardly thieves from getting my friend Rusty the Moose's treasured heirloom, a golden ruby necklace. Sitting complacently on the mast of the pirate ship, I watched as the doomed ship sank into the swirling water of the sea. It seemed that my mission had already been accomplished without my help. The storm had ensured that there would be no survivors to steal the loot.

My heart stopped for a second. Then, it started again, for love of her, a two-legger, a human. That may sound strange, considering I'm a cat, but I'm also a shape-shifter. Most shape-shifters stay in the forest, but I like staying with humans. Right now, I'm on a delivery boat, full to the brim with flowers. They don't know I'm here. My pink fur blends in perfectly. So I wait...

I hope my parents never drag me to Hawaii again. "It will be fun, Carl," my mom said. Boy, was she wrong. It started out okay with nice beaches and huge volcanoes, but on the second day, everything went wrong. I told my mom it would be a bad idea to bring our cat with us. But she said Mardi would be fine. Guess she was wrong there. While we were boating, she decided that it would be a good idea to play with the buttons on the helm. Turns out, there's a button on the ship that locks the wheel. Can you guess what happened next? Yeah, she pressed it, sending us on a one way trip to one of the small deserted islands just sitting there. Luckily, we grounded on the beach, but the ship's outboard motor was demolished. We were stuck. To make it worse, the island was populated by moose, whose hair I am highly allergic to. We were stranded for two days, until a local fishing boat picked us up. The whole experience shocked my mom. So, we left immediately for home. That was the end of another one of our terrible vacations. Next year we're going to the site of Pompeii. Hopefully the volcano won't go off and bury us. Maybe if I wear the lei I got from Hawaii, it will ward off bad luck, but probably not.

BAM! The damaged boat hit the shore. Anthony, the driver, and his usually tranquil cat, stumbled out of the boat while a trio of moose just stared at them calmly. The driver's cat ran into the boat and huddled in the lower deck. One of the moose walked up to the men. The men exchanged glances and stepped up to the moose, but not before they noticed a light brown necklace studded with bits of gold and diamonds on the ground. Anthony stood there stunned, but the greedy driver ripped the necklace off the ground and ran for the boat. As the man ran away, he started to slowly resemble a moose, until he actually was a real one. Anthony was confused at first, but slowly realized that if the necklace could turn humans into moose, then maybe it could do the exact opposite as well. He took the necklace from the infuriated driver moose and he turned the other moose back into humans. The grateful humans then supplied Anthony with wood and supplies, so he could fix the ship and take the humans and the angry moose away with him.

What is this place? That's what I'm asking myself. I sit up. I see some flickering lights about a mile away. I stand up. My legs are wobbling, and I can tell from the feeling that I've been sleeping for a while. I bump my head against a furry critter that looked like a cat. I slowly stride toward the light. It turns out to be an incomplete town with rusty beams and the creaking of old bolts. I reach into my pants pocket and pull out two thousand dollars. I stare in shock at the money. To my left there is a shop. A sly grin comes across my face. I walk inside the shop and stare at my surroundings. The door looks like a sci-fi portal. There are glowing orbs hoisting items into the air. Suddenly, I am on a spending spree. I buy a necklace, a tabby cat, a yacht, everything. I think I'm the god of this dimension. Suddenly, everything is gone. The once-there items disappeared into nothingness. I sit for an hour in the emptiness. Then, I jerk to life. Oh, I'm actually in my room, and it's 2 am. My TV showcases static, and I'm sitting in front of a Monopoly board. There are four five-hundred dollar bills in my hand. That's the last time I'm playing Monopoly alone.

It was the end of a strenuous day of crab fishing. The middle aged men were tired of living on the fishing boat. It had been almost three months. One of the men, a mysterious man who rarely spoke, wore a necklace with a moose on it. He claimed it was good luck. Some of his co-workers believed him, because just a few days earlier he had almost died slipping on a piece of ice. He had almost fallen off the side, but he held on to the rough rope with his warm glove. Everyone watched as he fell on the deck and passed out. When his eyes opened, he was lying on a bed with a cat on his stomach. His head ached, but at least he was alive.

Hey you! Have you ever sailed away to a far off island? Well this short story is about a cat, named Tropicana, who dreamed of sailing to the most beautiful island in the world, Hawaii. Nobody thought that Tropicana could sail to Hawaii, since he was a cat and all, but sure enough, on January 25, he set sail on the Princess sailboat. His journey was incredible, but very dangerous. On his way, he ran into a few obstacles. The waves crashed hard on his boat, but he never gave up. After months of hard sailing, he finally reached Hawaii. He stayed for a few weeks, but then began to miss his home back in Canada. So, he sailed all the way back home with only a Hawaiian necklace for a souvenir.

"Where is the culprit?" thought police cat. "We need to find the stolen necklace." Meanwhile, on a flimsy boat, on a stormy night, the moose stood with a necklace. "Haha, they'll never find me and the necklace!" thought the moose. "I'm safe. China, here I come." As we all know, cheaters never win. In this instance, criminals never win. The moose stupidly left his wallet back at the house where he stole the necklace, so he went back to the shore, he went back to the house, and stupidly asked for his wallet. The lady, the owner of the necklace, asked who he was. The moose proudly said, "I'm the criminal of the necklace." The lady cried and called the police cat. The police cat thundered, "I arrest you in the name of my underpants." They took the moose into custody. The end.
